About Us
Northern Bedford Pharmacy was started in June 2009 by Joe Breton R.Ph. Joe, the oldest of 6 kids, is from Troy, NY. Joe's youngest sister, Mary, had Cystic Fibrosis and took many medicines, injections, and breathing treatments, which sparked his interest in Pharmacy. Joe learned the importance of a pharmacist - patient relationship seeing how the pharmacists at Lindsay's Drug Store in Troy, NY went above and beyond the normal course of action to help out with all of Mary's medicines.
Joe graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in June of 1999 and moved to Syracuse, NY. Joe worked as a graduate intern at Upstate Medical Center, where he met Jill Schachtner PharmD., an Altoona, PA native. Following his employment at Upstate Medical Center, Joe worked as a pharmacist for Eckerd Pharmacy in Baldwinsville, NY. This is where Joe learned to love being a community pharmacist.
Joe started to date Jill Schacthner and asked Jill to marry him when one winter Syracuse was hit with over 200 inches of snow and Jill was offered the clinical director's job at Altoona Regional Health System. Jill accepted the position and moved back to Altoona, PA with Joe not far behind. Joe continued to work for Eckerd Pharmacy in Altoona, PA. Joe then moved on to Giant Eagle Pharmacy in Roaring Spring, PA.
Still very passionate about community pharmacy and the service which should be provided, Joe decided to open Northern Bedford Pharmacy in the old bank building at 3499 Brumbaugh Road in New Enterprise, PA. Joe works to provide excellent service with a personal touch. We, at Northern Bedford Pharmacy are an integral part of a patient's healthcare team. We take the time to get to know our patients and their families. We take an active part in our patient's healthcare.
